This week i read an article about brown bear population in Pyrenees. In recent years it has been increasing because of the launch of repopulation scheme in 1996. Before introducing this scheme, it had been on the edge of extincion. Fortunately, this idea turned out to be saving. In 2021 brown bear population reached its highest in this century. They had introduced females and males from Slovenia to help reproduction.
Although this action has prevented the extinction of this species, not everyone was in favor of introducing it. For example farmers who were afraid of threat to their livestock. It’s very interesting, because brown bears are mostly vegetarians, but i kinda understand farmer’s fear. In my opinion it was very interesting article. I’m glad that they managed to save this population, because i have so much sentiment to this species. The main character of my favorite childhood movie was brown bear.

Farmers usually hate wild animals: wolves in Bieszczady, elephants in Africa, etc. So no wonder these ones were against bears.
